The cove

The gallery The Gallery at Widgeon Cove Studios was established in l988 to exhibit exclusively the work of co-directors Condon and Georgeann Kuhl. Their skills are combined to create work of artistic merit and fine craftsmanship, all made in their studios. The gallery exhibits sterling silver and gold jewelry, sculpture, paintings and many items of handmade paper, including stationery, handmade books and pulp paintings.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS:

Condon Kuhl is nationally recognized for his jewelry, sculpture and metalsmithing. Ideas usually relating to nature are translated into unusual combinations of materials and forms resulting in unique one of a kind jewelry, sculpture and presentation pieces for special occasions. His work has been exhibited in museums, galleries and American Craft Council shows around the country and is found in many public and private collections, including the Columbus Museum of Art. Before moving to Maine in l987, he taught at Drake University for 25 years. There he established the major in jewelry and metalsmithing, served as Chair of the Art Department and as Interim Dean of the College of Fine Arts.

Georgeann Kuhl is a nationally recognized artist/papermaker. The versatile medium of handmade paper allows full range for her creative abilities, from watercolors, monotypes, and pulp paintings to handmade paper books, stationery sets and papers made from plants in the Kuhl's beautiful gardens. She was Director Of Education  and Assistant Director of the Des Moines Art Center for l4 years, leaving that museum post in l987 to focus on her artwork. She has exhibited widely, including many national and international exhibitions. Her work is in both public and private collections, including Champion International Paper Company; corporate collection, Augusta, Maine.
